Seventeen Weeks [with Baby#2]
I feel like I am already failing in terms of documenting this pregnancy as much as I did with Emmett. Here I am at 17 weeks with my first update! (also I promise I am meaning to still write about finding out about this one…I keep forgetting…can I blame mom AND pregnancy brain!?)
The Scoop on the First Trimester
This time around I was more tired than I was with Emmett. I had some slight nausea here and there but overall I have been truly blessed in my first trimesters both times with no real morning sickness or barely any. I was hungry a bunch again but not quite as bad with Emmett. I also managed to keep my weight gain UNDER the maximum of 5 pounds which made me feel so much better about the start to this pregnancy (with Emmett I gained exactly 5). I also continued to work out and attend the YMCA for spinning and the occasional yoga class. I’ve been making it a point to eat more vegetables as well and cut down more on carbs.
I woke up at 13 weeks pregnant though with a burst of energy and maintained it for a month. I will admit that as I am writing this at 17+4, I am feeling tired. We had an intense weekend that carried through a little to Monday. I crashed at 4pm for a two hour nap yesterday and am still feeling the effects of the weekend today too! I am hoping for the energy back soon.
We chose to go with The Midwife Center again and I seriously couldn’t be more excited. They are phenomenal at what they do and are just so highly trained in birth. We have had two appointments so far and the last left us with a healthy heartbeat in the 150s! Our ultrasound is scheduled just before Valentine’s Day and my birthday.
Beginning the Second Trimester:
This is my 15/16 week photo [taken at 15+5 weeks]. It was SO cold outside!

A fun fact: there are 5 (or 6!) other women in our church pregnant too and one gave birth yesterday!
