Well the surprise is out! We are adding another little baby to our home in September and are thrilled about it. Baby’s due date is the end of September so I am fully anticipating the possibility of an October baby while secretly hoping for a mid-September one! We are thanking God for this wonderful blessing. Be sure to follow along on Instagram to keep up to date with this pregnancy!

How Jake Found Out
Yes, the following photo IS how Jake found out he was going to be a dad again! We have always found out together and watched the stick turn pink, but I had this idea for a photo months before this day and thought it was too good to pass up. So I peed on the stick and as soon as it turned positive I was shaking a little bit with excitement and knew there was no way I could keep this secret long.
Thankfully Jake was home for the day and I just told him I had something to work on and closed myself in the office. He didn’t ask any questions! Then a couple minutes later after I finished the letterboard I called him in and asked him to take a photo. He didn’t ask any questions this time either and I was starting to wonder just how much luck was on my side. Well I guess the following photos will tell! 😉
And that expression being captured on camera was completely worth it. He immediately put the board down, I stopped snapping and we hugged. (Also, since I knew these photos would be posted at some point, I told him to go comb his hair!)
13 weeks: Baby is the size of a lemon!
Short-lived cravings: (strong cravings for random food items that pass after I have eaten them): gyros, subs, queso and chips
Cravings that continue: fruit, strawberry jelly, carbs 😐
How this pregnancy is different: I have been even more fatigued and tired this first trimester compared to previous pregnancies. I had an underlying nausea feeling for about 5 weeks too. It was just annoying but thankfully didn’t affect life. Overall, it has been similar!
How this pregnancy is the same: I stop wanting hot coffee in the mornings. This makes me sad because it is something I look forward to usually the night before. However, this has happened in all three pregnancies now but eventually my desire for hot coffee returns. I have treated myself to a couple iced coffees in the afternoon when they sounded good! I also always immediately have to start watching what I eat to maintain how much weight I put on. Something changes in my body every pregnancy and I don’t know why.
Random things I want to remember: The day we found out we were expecting, I decided I wanted Emmett to know. As far as I know he didn’t tell anyone! When we found out with Hadley he had no idea what was going on. I think he is still confused a little this time around, but he definitely talks about the baby, references it and asks when it is coming. He is also absolutely convinced it is a boy and thinks we should name him “Emmett.”

Do we have names picked out?
We have middle names picked out for sure. They are both family names just like Emmett and Hadley’s middle names.
Are we finding out the gender?
What do you think? Should we? We have always been surprised in the past!
How did you handle exhaustion while having 2 kids?
We had a lot of low key days at home baking, doing activities, watching TV. We planned morning activities out with friends, tired the kids out and all came home to crash at nap time! I really don’t know. The first several weeks are a bit of a haze. By God’s grace we survived and just did it! Jake also took care of dinner more than ever before.
